Editing or proofreading a thesis or dissertation
A thesis or a dissertation must be your own work.
But what if your first language is not English?
Or what if you have serious difficulty getting things down in writing?
Help is at hand - most universities and colleges let you get your text checked by an English editor/proofreader such as me, to help make sure your meaning is clear and that the text is written in academic British English.
What about cost and time? These depend on what your text is like. Until I know that, I'm like a mechanic being asked to quote for mending a car, but without knowing what sort of car it is, nor what the problem is. However, as rough guide, my price ranges from £15 to £25 per 1000 words, depending on what the original text is like and what work is to be done.
As for the time required, I would normally expect to complete a text of up to 5000 words within 2 working days of receiving it ... as long as I have a vacant space in my schedule. The more advance notice you can give me, the more likely I am to be able to do the work when you want me to do it.
I suggest, too, that you allow a few days after I've returned the completed text to you, for you to look through it to answer my queries - there always are some! - and to check that the changes I've made are expressing clearly what it is that you want to say.

Please tell me the title and word limit of your text, send me a 1000-word sample of the text and tell me your submission deadline. I will tell you immediately whether I can fit the work into my schedule and whether I am competent to work on the subject matter. (The subjects I cover are wide-ranging - I have helped a Japanese with a dissertation on the post-war education system in Japan, a Norwegian with a series of essays on classical philosophy, an Italian with a thesis on Caribbean women writers and an Englishman with a thesis on his redesign for a computerised mail-order system.) Then I will work on your sample for free, and I will normally return it to you within 24 hours, providing a firm price quotation for your job at the same time.
