Copy-editing
I have been working as an onscreen copy-editor since 1993.
One of my specialities is TEFL books, and I also transliterate into the IPA. I also work successfully on a wide variety of publications, both fiction and non-fiction, the latter ranging from information about animal breeds to instructions for handling bromine.
I have qualified as a Member of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders, and I continue to update my training to keep abreast not just of the fast-moving world of IT but also of the subtle changes in language that reflect our developing culture. See my directory entry at http://www.sfep.org.uk/curr_dir/entry402.html
I have an Open University degree in linguistics, Latin and Ancient Greek, and astronomy + cosmology. My activities over the last few years include crewing a Tall Ship, piloting my own microlight and converting a redundant barn on our seaside acreage into a welcoming place for walkers, inspired by the hostels on the Camino di Santiago. So my knowledge base is eclectic, and this will help ensure that any text I work on for you will be well received by your readers.
